Xavier Henry Commits to Vermont

The Chilliwack Chiefs are proud to announce that veteran defenseman Xavier Henry has committed to play for Coach Woodcroft and the Vermont Catamounts in the NCAA. This season, Henry has registered 2 goals, 3 assists in 15 games, along with 25 penalty minutes. The 6’5 Scarborough, Ontario native has been a huge part of the teams leadership group this year, and his coaches are extremely proud of his progression over his time in Chilliwack.

“X is a player who has worked for everything he has gotten in this game.” Said Chiefs Head Coach and GM Brian Maloney. “We are all so happy for Xavier and know that he will be a great addition to Vermont’s defence next season.”

“We are all extremely proud of X for earning this commitment to play for Coach Woodcroft and the Catamounts. He is a great person and leader within our group, and we couldn’t be more proud of him.” Said Chiefs Associate Coach Brad Rihela.

When asked about his commitment, the 20-year old defender spoke to the coaching staff as a main component for choosing Vermont “Choosing Vermont throughout this process was a no-brainer for me. The professionalism of the coaching staff and how they approach the game is what really caught my eye.”  Said the newest Vermont recruit before adding “They believe in me, and I believe in what they are trying to build. It is an honour to join the Catamount family!”

Congratulations,  Xavier!
