Rivermen Edge Chiefs in a SO

Playing their sixth game in ten nights the Chiefs travelled to Langley Sunday afternoon to take on the Rivermen.  Looking to extend their winning streak to six games, it was all Chiefs in the first as Kyle Penney, Brett Rylance, and Brett Willits gave the hometown squad a 3-0 lead heading into the second period.

Langley answered back at the seven minute mark of the second Brendan Budy scoring his fourth of the season. However, the Chiefs answered back with Bret Willits scoring his second of the afternoon and Xavier Henry notching his first of the season. Budy would score his second of the game to end the second period with the Chiefs having a 5-2 lead.

The third period was all Rivermen with help from goals from Tristan Fraser, Tanner Tomzak, and Brendan Budy who scored his third of the game to draw the Rivermen even with the Chiefs at 5 and force overtime.

Despite some great chances at both ends of the ice, the extra stanza solved nothing and the teams headed to a shoot out. Brendan Budy would score the lone goal of the shoot out to give the Rivermen a 6-5 SO win.

The Chiefs next game is Wednesday night at the Chilliwack Coliseum as they host the Vernon Vipers, game time is 7pm
