Messineo Earns Commitment From UConn

The Chilliwack Chiefs are proud to announce that import defenseman Thomas Messineo has committed to the University of Connecticut Huskies. With the Chiefs this season, Messineo has registered an impressive 7 points in 11 games played, while playing on both the Chiefs power play and penalty kill units.

“We are honestly so happy for Thomas and his family that he was able to get this done.” Said Chiefs bench boss Brian Maloney. “Thomas is a selfless player that will do anything for his teammates, it is always a nice feeling to see one of your players rewarded for their efforts.”

Messineo spoke to the opportunity to play in Hockey East being a dream of his since he was a youngster when asked about his commitment and decision. “I am very excited and honoured to join the Huskies. The coaching staff is really great and their ability to further develop players and create a winning culture is at the top of the league.” Said the 5’11 rearguard before adding “Playing in Hockey East has been a dream of mine since I was young and for it to become a reality with such a great school and program is something I am extremely grateful for.”
