The Chilliwack Chiefs are a premier junior hockey club based in the beautiful city of Chilliwack, BC. Competing in the Coastal East Conference of the British Columbia Hockey League (BCHL), the Chiefs are dedicated to developing elite hockey players and assisting them in securing scholarships to NCAA Division I programs.
JOB DETAILS:

Education & Certification Requirements:
- Certified Canadian Athletic Therapist (CAT(C) designation).
- Bachelors of Athletic & Exercise Therapy or a Post-Graduate Master’s Degree/Certification in Athletic Therapy.
- Valid First Responder Certification with CPR BLS/HCP.
- Experience or certification in nutrition and/or strength and conditioning certification (CEP, CPT or CSCS) is considered an asset but not required.
- Must pass a Criminal Record Check.
Experience:
- Minimum 1-2 years of working in hockey, preferably working with high-performance hockey athletes.
- Experience and knowledge of hockey equipment, with some repair and maintenance (skate sharpening is an asset but not required).
Skills & Abilities:
- Demonstrated expertise in the prevention, assessment, management, and rehabilitation of various hockey injuries while upholding a professional atmosphere.
- Proficient in delivering high-quality immediate care for acute and chronic hockey injuries, including on-site injury assessment, provision of manual therapy techniques, use of therapeutic modalities, rehabilitation of orthopaedic injuries, managing return-to-play protocols, emergency life support, and the recognition and management of traumatic head and spinal injuries, including concussions.
- Capable of collaborating with Strength & Conditioning Coaches to develop and implement preventative strength and flexibility programs.
- Skilled in working with other health professionals to coordinate athlete referrals to Physicians, Physiotherapists, Chiropractors, Massage Therapists, Sports Mental Performance Coaches, and other specialists.
- Experienced in using supportive taping and bracing techniques effectively.
- Adept at maintaining accurate office records and medical documentation for all athletes.
- Proficient in developing annual budgets, managing financial records, and maintaining appropriate inventory of medical and hockey supplies and equipment.
- Competent in maintaining, managing, and repairing hockey equipment.
- Available to work long hours, irregular schedules, weekends, and holidays during the hockey season.
- Possess strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Capable of working collaboratively within a team while remaining organized and detail-oriented.
