Harrison Blaisdell opened and closed the scoring as the Chiefs increased their winning streak to six games with a 4-1 decision in Nanaimo Friday night.
The win improved the Chiefs to 6-2-0-0 on the season while the Clippers fell to 2-6-0-0.
Blaisdell’s first of the night, his fifth of the season came on the power play with .6 seconds left in the first period. Carter Wilkie and Skyler Brind’Amour earned the assists.
Chilliwack doubled their lead early in the second when Matt Holmes took a centering pass from Brett Willits and beat Clippers netminder Jordan Naylor for his third of the season with just 14 seconds gone in the period.
The Clippers got a goal from Robby Dranzer at 11:40 of the middle frame to make it 2-1 Chiefs after two periods.
In the third, the Chiefs ran into some penalty taking three straight penalties but the penalty killing kept the game at 2-1.
With 3:32 left in the third, Chiefs forward Ethan Bowen forced an offensive turnover that led to Kevin Wall picking up the loose puck and beating Naylor for his sixth of the season.
A breakaway goal by Blaisdell with 61 seconds left rounded out the scoring.
Mathieu Caron turned away 18 Clippers shots to earn his league leading sixth victory of the season.
The Chiefs finished 1/3 on the power play and 5/5 on the penalty kill.
