Chiefs win 5-1 in West Kelowna

Kevin Wall scored twice and added three assists and Harrison Blaisdell had a goal and two assists to lead the Chiefs to a 5-1 win in West Kelowna Tuesday night.

With the win the Chiefs improved to 12-4-0-0 on the season.

The only goal of the game’s opening period came of the stick of Chiefs forward Kevin Wall.

Taking a pass from Alex Marrocco, Chiefs defenseman Will Dow-Kenny gained the offensive zone before sending a behind the back pass from the right corner to Wall in front. Wall wasted no time beating Warriors goaltender Connor Hopkins with this team leading tenth goal of the season.

The home team tied the game at one with just over seven minutes gone in the second on a power play goal by Max Bulawka. The goal came after the Chiefs were penalized for having too many skaters on the ice.

The Chiefs regained their one goal lead and this time is was Dow-Kenny firing home a point shot for his first BCHL goal. The goal came with 6:11 left in the second period. Assists went to Clark Nelson and Kevin Wall.

Wall struck again, this time shorthanded at the sixty five second mark of the third period.

Marrocco started the play forcing a Warriors turn over just inside the Chiefs blueline. Blaisdell picked up the loose puck who fed Wall along the left boards. Wall’s shot from thirty feet out beat Hopkins glove side to make it 3-1 Chiefs.

Moments later it was Blaisdell upping the Chiefs lead to 4-1. Again it was Marrocco starting the play keeping the puck in at the Warriors blue line. Taking the pass from Marrocco it was Wall who found a wide open Blaisdell at the left faceoff circle. Blaisdell’s shot beat Hopkins for his tenth goal of the season.

The Chiefs ended Hopkins night nine minutes into the third period when Colten Kitchen’s point shot found its way through a maze of legs into the back of the Warriors net.

Mathieu Caron went the distance in goal for Chilliwack turning away 17 Warriors shots to earn his league leading twelfth win of the season.

The Chiefs will return home for a few days of practice before heading back on the road for games Friday in Trail and Saturday in Penticton.
