Chiefs edge Capitals 3-2

Harrison Blaisdell scored twice and Nolan Hildebrand earned the win in his first start for the Chiefs as the Chiefs defeated the visiting Cowichan Valley Capitals 3-2 Sunday afternoon at Prospera Centre.

The first period was scoreless despite the Chiefs (15-6-0-0) getting six power play opportunities.

Blaisdell got the Chiefs the lead when he redirected Matt Holmes centering pass behind Caps netminder Blake Wood at 7:56 of the middle period. Kevin Wall also earned an assist on Blaisdell’s 12th of the season.

The Caps (4-13-1-1)  tied it with 5:26 left in the second on a goal by Luc Wilson.

Cowichan took the lead on a power play goal by David Melaragni at the 6:32 mark of the third period.

The Chiefs tied the game at two when Blaisdell’s centering pass deflected off a Caps defender and into the net. The goal came with 4:26 left in the third.

Ethan Bowen was the hero, giving the Chiefs the 3-2 win with this seventh of the season with 1:45 left in the third period. Bowen finished off a good three way passing play that saw Carter Wilkie and Matt Holmes pick up the assists.

Final shots on goal in the game were even at 29.

Chilliwack finished 1/11 on the power play and 4/5 on the penalty kill.

The Chiefs return to action when they travel to Langley Friday night. They return home Saturday to host the Salmon Arm Silverbacks.
