Chiefs down Warriors in OT – can advance to final with home win Sunday

Jordan Kawaguchi was the hero, scoring at the 59 second mark of the first overtime period to give the Chiefs a 4-3 road win over the West Kelowna Warriors Wednesday.

The Chiefs now need just one more win to advance to the best of seven league finals and will get their first chance to get that win when they host the Warriors Sunday at 5pm.

It was all Chilliwack in the first period. Goals by Kohen Olischefski and Taylor Allan 61 seconds midway through the period put the Chiefs up by two. Rylan Bechtel’s power play goal with just over three minutes left made it 3-0 Chilliwack after twenty minutes.

West Kelowna scored the only goal of the middle stanza when Jake Lebrun scored on the power play with just 27 seconds left.

In the third the Warriors got goals a pair of goals from Kylar Hope, the second one with just 13 seconds left to send the game to extra time.

Aidan Pelino turned away 30 shots to earn his tenth win of the playoffs.
