Chiefs Commit to Liam Steele for 2022-23 Season

The Chilliwack Chiefs are excited to announce the commitment of 2022 NHL Draft Prospect Liam Steele. Steele, a 6’4 215 pound defender from Cobham, Great Britain is currently playing for the Stanstead College Varsity program. A defender with great skating ability and an elite skill-set, Steele was recently named to Great Britain’s World Championship U20 squad.

A captain at Stanstead, and a commit of Cornell, Liam comes to the Chiefs as one of the most highly regarded defensemen available ahead of the 2022-23 BCHL season. “Liam is a player we have been watching for some time, and having the opportunity to meet his family and recruit him, it was evident to us he is a great fit with our program both on and off the ice.” Said Chiefs Head Coach and GM Brian Maloney. “He is an exciting prospect with a bright future ahead, we look forward to working with him to develop his game for his career at the NCAA level and beyond.”

Speaking to the defensive side of Liam’s game, Associate Coach Brad Rihela eluded to Liam’s skating ability as a huge benefit for him moving forward. “Liam defends hard, plays a physical game, but also has great edges and mobility for a big kid. This will allow him to join the rush and be a part of our offence, while rounding out his defensive game prior to heading to Cornell.”

Welcome to Chilliwack, Liam and Family!
