Chiefs Battle Clippers and Kings this Weekend

The Chilliwack Chiefs are set for another weekend of BCHL action at the Chilliwack Coliseum.

The Chiefs are in a major standings battle to earn home-ice advantage for the upcoming 2023 playoffs. Chilliwack sits 5th but is just a handful of points back from 4th and 3rd. This season at the Coliseum, the Chiefs are 13-8.

On Friday night, the Chiefs host the coastal conference leading Nanaimo Clippers.

The two clubs have met twice this season. Although the Chiefs have not been able to pull out the win, both games have been close contests.

2003-born forward Kai Daniells leads the way for the Clippers. Daniells, a Princeton commit, sits 5th in league scoring. In 42 games, he’s scored 24 goals and 30 assists for 54 points.

The game will also feature the Grabas brothers of Luca and Nico going head-to-head.

Off the ice, Club16 Trevor Linden Fitness will have multiple booths on the concourse. They’ll be giving away a grand prize full of Club16 swag and a Chilliwack Club16 Trevor Linden Fitness membership for an entire year! The draw will take place at the end of the 2nd intermission. Michelle Hamel will sing the national anthem before puck drop. Stefano Macri will be the Chilliwack Ford’s 7th Skater. Our Tim Horton’s Chilliwack Minor Hockey Timbits are back in the 1st intermission. McDonald’s Chuck-A-Puck will be in the 2nd intermission for both games.

Puck drop is 7 pm.

Then on Saturday, the Chiefs will face off against the Powell River Kings.

This will be the 4th and final meeting of the two teams. The Chiefs have won all three games so far this season.

Karter McNarland, a University of Alaska-Anchorage commit, leads the way for the Kings. The second year King has 12 goals and 22 assists.

The game is SPCA Awareness Night, presented by Oly’s Pet Connection.

A very special puck drop pre-game will feature Duncan the Newfoundlander. Then, the first-ever Chilliwack mascot marathon will take place in the 2nd intermission as Belle will race some worthy contestants from around Chilliwack! Michelle Hammel will be back to sing the anthem and Walker Jackson will be standing on the blueline with the Chiefs as the Chilliwack Ford 7th Player.
