Chiefs and Warriors Game Preview

This Saturday, the Chilliwack Chiefs and West Kelowna Warriors will be facing off for the first and only time this season.

The Chiefs started 2023 off as one of the BCHL’s hottest teams. In January, the Chiefs went 5-2 and scored 22 goals.

The Warriors currently sit third in the Interior with a record of 21-12-4 and 46 points. The game will be the 4th straight road game for West Kelowna, who are currently on a stretch of seven consecutive games away from the Royal LePage Place.

The game will feature a number of the league’s top NHL prospects.

Chiefs captain and Vegas Golden Knights draft pick Abram Wiebe currently sits as the BCHL’s top defenceman in points and 10th overall among all players. The Mission, BC product has 40 points in 37 games.

As well, NHL Central Scouting ranked AJ Lacroix is coming off a two-goal performance last weekend against the Express. He is currently second in Chilliwack scoring with 33 points.

Suiting up for the West Kelowna is a pair of NHL draft picks. Ben MacDonald, a Seattle Kraken 3rd round pick, currently sits second in Warriors scoring. The rookie and Harvard commit has earned 15 goals and 15 assists in 35 games played. His teammate Luke Devlin was selected this past summer by the Pittsburgh Penguins in the 6th round. In his first season, the centre has 24 points in 34 games.
