Chiefs 4 Rivermen 2

 

Brett Willit’s first BCHL goal with 9:45 left in the third period stood up as the winner as the Chiefs (1-2-0-0) knocked off the Langley Rivermen (2-1-0-0) 4-2 in Langley Friday night.

The two teams meet again Saturday night in Chilliwack.

After a scoreless first period in which the Chiefs outshot the Rivermen 9-5, the Chiefs took a 2-0 lead on second period goals by Alex Marrocco and Jacob Slipec. Slipec’s goal game with the Chiefs shorthanded.

The Rivermen stormed back with late second period goals by Devin Leduc and Ethan Leyh to knot the score at 2-2 after forty minutes.

Kevin Wall’s empty net goal with two seconds left in the third period rounded out the scoring.

Mathieu Caron earned his first win of the season, turning away 22 Rivermen shots.

Chilliwack finished 0/4 on the power play and 2/2 on the penalty kill.
