Abram Wiebe Commits to North Dakota

The Chilliwack Chiefs are proud to announce that veteran defenseman Abram Wiebe has landed a scholarship with the University of North Dakota. Wiebe, from Mission, BC, has gotten off to a great start in his second full season in the BCHL, having put up 11 points in 11 games. A reliable defender with offensive upside, Wiebe has made great strides in his game over the past couple of seasons and was one of the most highly regarded defenders in the BCHL coming out of the BCHL Showcase.

“Abram deserves everything he has gotten to this point.” Said Chiefs Associate Coach and Assistant GM Brad Rihela. “He is a great teammate, who continues to put the work in to improve the details of his game on a daily basis. We couldn’t be more proud of Abram, and happy for his family.”

“I am grateful to receive this opportunity to play at the University of North Dakota.” Said the 6’3, 2003-born Wiebe. “I can’t thank the Chiefs organization enough, especially Coach Maloney, Coach Rihela, Coach Shaw, and our strength and training staff. I would also like to thank my teammates and my family for pushing me and helping me get to this point, I’m excited for what the future holds.”

Congratulations, Abram!
