CHIEFS RE-ACQUIRE SORACE

The Chilliwack Chiefs are thrilled to announce that 2004-born defender Lucas Sorace will be back home in Chilliwack for his final BCHL season. Sorace, committed to Quinnipiac for the 2025-26 NCAA season, was re-acquired from Penticton in exchange for future considerations. The Chiefs are thrilled to have Sorace back in the fold, and there are many reasons why this was the right move at the right time for the club. “First off, Lucas is a great person. It was a really tough decision to make last season making the move we did.” Said Chiefs Head Coach and GM Brian Maloney. “When the opportunity came around to get him back here, as a staff we felt it was 100% the right thing for our group with his size, skating ability, character, and veteran experience.”

Despite dealing with multiple injuries over the past few seasons, Sorace has logged an impressive 111 regular season games in the BCHL and 38 postseason games. He was a force for Penticton in their playoff run last season, something that will only help the Chiefs this upcoming season. “Lucas is a player that checks well, moves pucks well, and understands how to impact the game in a positive way. He has worked extremely hard to improve as a player and we are thrilled to have the opportunity to bring him back to Chilliwack.” Said Chiefs Associate Coach & Director of Hockey Development Brad Rihela before adding “I remember his first game with us as a 15-year-old affiliate back in 2019, it is pretty impressive to see the progression in his game over time and we are excited to take a run at a championship with a veteran leader like Lucas back in our program.”

Chiefs fans, welcome back Lucas Sorace!
